Instagram is one of the fastest growing social networks in history. It is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing, and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them either publicly or privately on the app, as well as through a variety of other social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr.
„Today, we’re excited to announce our community has grown to more than 500 million Instagrammers — more than 300 million of whom use Instagram every single day. Our community also continues to become even more global, with more than 80 percent living outside of the United States.“
This was an official announcement on the Instagram profile, as they were celebrating those numbers. There are many more exciting facts: 80 million photos is posted each day, and it has 3.5 billion Likes per day.
Instagram has become the go-to platform for users interested in both sharing visual stories and consuming them. Instagram has made a point of enabling creators. Already in 2016, the network has added 60-second videos, added video to carousel ads, simplified their interface to highlight shared content better, and adopted an algorithmic feed. Also, Instagram’s logo redesign goes live and the new thing is that users on iOS can now share photos and videos without having to open the app.
