Google’s Cloud Speech API is getting a major update today. Support for 30 new languages includes, among others, Bengali, Latvian and Swahili.
Cloud Speech API has allowed developers to use Google’s services to transcribe spoken words into text since 2016. They now added word-level timestamps. A word with a timestamp allows users to easily hear what a given word sounded like.
Uploaded files can now be up to 3 hours long, unlike the previous 80 minues. Developers can also ask for a quota extension to upload files that are even longer. Like before, developers can get 60 minutes of free audio processing and every additional 15 seconds costs $0.006.
